Trials of Training A Longhorn Riding Steer

The things a guy's gotta put up with to eat.....Geeeezzzee!

Hey, How come I keep havin' to stand around lookin' like I just rolled out of the dryer??

Yes, Rooster made it to the World Show!

Texas Longhorn Breeders World Show 2004 - 2nd in his class!

How's that for his 14 month Birthday?

His horns had reached 27 7/16", and he weighed around 775 lbs.

Smile!  Here comes the judge!  Just stand still, darnit!

Ain't I cute??

We are very proud of Rooster!  He placed 2nd in his class!!  We are also very grateful to Jake Whitfill for showing Rooster and for all of his help.  We would like to thank Jake and his family, as well as all of the other Longhorn Association members who have done so much to make us feel welcome.

And Back at Home...

Let's go, Mamaw!  Love those hugs!  This is Mamaw's ride. Don't ask me why she doesn't ride a horse! I've been wonderin' that myself! I just don't understand this family sometimes...

Mac has his fans, too!

14 1/2 mths. and looking great!

Horns - 28 3/8"   Weight - 813 lbs.

Watch out Rooster!  It won't be long before you're hauling us around!

17 Months Old!

Things have been so busy around here that we haven't had the time to update pictures!  Rooster really has grown lately.  He's got 32 9/16" of horn and weighs around 950 lbs.  Look out Mac!  He's catching up to you!  He'll be carrying the rubber cowboy before he knows it.

17 1/2 months and still growing!

His horns were almost 34", and he'd made it to 1000 lbs.

Hey, Big Boy!

...and we mean big boy...Rooster's 18 1/2 mth. picture really showed how much he'd grown.  His horns were 35 1/8" and he was pushing 1070 lbs.

Look At My New Trailer!  Gettin' Big!

Rooster's Ready To Go!

I'm still mama's little baby!

He might be the Biggest, but he's still mama's baby.

If you don't believe it, just ask him.  He'll throw a tantrum if you argue with him!

Here we go!  Good Buddies!  Say Cheese!

Rooster's 1st Ride!

One step closer!  Rooster got his first chance be a big guy.  Time and patience pays off.  Gayland eased into the saddle for the first time, and Rooster acted like he was an old pro at it.  The many miles we've walked together and the time we've spent paid off at this stage.
