Meet our New Baby!
Bo Weevil has come to live with us! And, boy, are those horns growing!
He's just so kissable! Ok, with four steers to handle every afternoon, we haven't done as good a job on photo-journaling Bo's life. Sorry, Bo! That's what happens when you're the baby! Once again, we've got a different personality. Bo was afraid of his own shadow the first few months...and is still deathly afraid of big, green trashcans! He is also the first steer we've got that really kicked. That's something we've been working to cure. We'll see how it goes.
Check Out Those Horns!!
At one year of age, Bo's horns were over 3 inches longer from tip to tip than the other boys were at that age!
You'll notice he still loves to kiss!

Bo has really made a change and is a great steer! Here he is pictured in January of 2007 at 23 months. old. Look at those horns!
Training Tip:
We had mentioned that Bo was afraid of everything and kicked. With time, he has overcome both obstacles. We spent many hours walking, seeing different "scary" things, and handling him. We also realized we were not helping him in keeping him with Doc. We have since made the sad decision to sell Doc, and Bo is now more dependent on us. Mr. Henry gave us advice that we did not heed in the beginning. He said there are too many good steers out there to waste your time on one that won't work. We spent 2 years trying to get Doc to become the riding steer we wanted, but he just didn't fit the mold. Time was not wasted, though, as we've learned a valuable lesson.
Our baby has had an accident. He slipped and fell during a trailer ride and has fractured his skull at the horn base. The vet has reset the horn and braced it with duct tape and rebar. Time will tell whether he keeps his horn or not.
